About

As the Medical Director for Infection Prevention & Control at UI Health, Dr. Bleasdale has been the physician lead for infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship at the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics. In that leadership role, she has directed initiatives to reduce infections, multidrug-resistant organisms, and improve antimicrobial prescribing.

Dr. Bleasdale has helped lead significant quality-improvement initiatives at UI Health related to central line-associated blood stream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, surgical site infections, and sepsis. She also has helped the Hospital & Clinics achieve the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence designation. Her expertise and commitment to quality and safety has helped UI Health prepare and maintain readiness for a high-consequence infectious disease.

During her time at UI Health, Dr. Bleasdale has been an active member of Medical Staff leadership, and served as an officer of the Medical Staff.

As we all know, Dr. Bleasdale has been at the forefront of our COVID-19 response activities since the beginning of her Interim CQO appointment. Appointed to this role of Chief Quality Officer for UI Health permanently in July of 2021, as she has been the critical clinician and administrator providing guidance and leadership during our entire COVID response
