Health Affairs Policies
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs oversees the operations of the seven UIC Health Sciences Colleges and the clinical delivery enterprise that consists of the Hospital & Clinics, Mile Square Health Center network and other health providers. While most formal clinical policies are available through the Hospital & Clinics intranet, there are several policies listed below that are functions of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs.

Purpose of the Policy
Students receive access to UI Health clinical facility premises, access to patients, access to the electronic health record, and/or access to protected health information through their colleges or units for educational purposes.
This policy provides a procedure whereby UIC students who have not already obtained approval and access to clinical facility premises, patients, electronic health record, and/or access to protected health information at the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics, Mile Square Health Center, and affiliated clinics may do so for scholarly and clinical projects sponsored by faculty and staff. Please note that this policy does not apply to students with a paid research position.

Purpose of the Policy
This policy provides guidance for the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) – including the Hospital and Clinics, the seven health sciences colleges, and the federally qualified Mile Square Health Center and other health affairs related units – regarding procedures and compliance requirements around community health screenings with CLIA-waived tests.
