What should the IMD look like? Come and tell us!

We are designing me future of the Illinois Medical District, and we need your help!

What we are doing:
We are holding two community meetings for residents, doctors, nurses, students, community organizations, patients, business owners, and nearby neighbors in Tri-Taylor, North Lawndale, and Pilsen - to tell us what improvements they would like to see in the IMD area.

  • About the project: Each event is different - join for one or all.
  • We want everyone to be heard.
  • Activities for children will be available.
  • Food will be served.

Who we are:
The Illinois Medical District (IMD), UIC College of Urban Planning and Puplic Affairs (CUPPA), Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE), and Design Workshop are working together to bring you this community-led urban design process.
For more information, contact IMD at info@medicaldistrict.org or visit the IMD website.

About the project:
The UIC MCD Summer Studio, or 'Chicago Charrette,' immerses students in community engagement at the intermediate urban scale. Students collaborate with community partners to develop participatory strategies and co-create meaningful design solutions. Building on the MCD Great Cities Studio's collaboration with IMD, students gather feedback on their "Remaking Place Framework Plan" to support the design of a sustainable Illinois Medical district/neighborhood.  Our design partner is Design Workshop, a planning and design consultant. The UIC Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) supports the course, promoting learning and participatory action.
