Tanner works with and supports Lauren Krause, Director for Healthcare Government Relations, to coordinate and implement legislative strategies for UI Health at the local, state, and federal level. In this role, he will be assisting in research and the drafting of reports to aid in the development of policy positions in coordination with leaders from UI Health, the UIC Office of Public and Government Affairs, and the University of Illinois’ Office of Governmental Relations. The resulting data and information from such reports are important to the development of strategic recommendations on how to advocate, enhance and seek support for UI Health priorities.
Previously, Tanner worked for the Tennessee General Assembly serving in various roles including Research and Policy Advisor for the House Speaker and Research Analyst for the House Finance and Agriculture Committees. Tanner brings six years of combined experience as a public policy professional with a focus on government finance, healthcare, and higher education. During that time, he worked on legislation and policies affecting hospital systems and healthcare associations including advocacy for the appropriation of state funds for expanding mental health treatment.
Tanner attained his BS in political science at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
