About

Cassandra Solis works closely with the Director of Health Affairs, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to help develop, coordinate, and launch DEI programming and initiatives across UIC's seven health sciences colleges and schools. This happens in conjunction with managing the Odehmenan Health Equity Center.

Cassandra Solis is a lifelong diversity, equity and inclusion champion. As a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) practitioner, coach, and leader, Cassandra has worked to facilitate and build equitable spaces and learning opportunities for whom she serves. Prior to her current role, she served as the Associate Director of Equity Tools & Programming at Beloved Community, an economic and racial equity nonprofit. In this role, she worked to identify pain points within various organizations and aid in building sustainable organizational solutions through equity workplans, capacity building and trainings, and conducting audits of organizational DEIB practices.

Born and raised in the south side of Chicago, Cassandra is bilingual and identifies as Mexican/Chicana. She attended and graduated from Jones College Prep in Chicago. She then went on to earn a double Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Critical Ethnic Studies from Kalamazoo College.
