UI Health Anti-Racism Statement

UI Health opposes all forms of racism, discrimination and oppression - and supports activities to address practices which foster an environment among the academic health enterprise that promotes inclusiveness, with acknowledgement and respect for the commonalities and differences among our students, faculty, staff, researchers, trainees, patients, research subjects and community partners.

As UIC’s academic health enterprise – comprised of UIC’s seven health sciences colleges, the Hospital and Clinics, the Mile Square Health Center and the UI Cancer Center – UI Health recognizes that racism impacts health and wellness.

UI Health acknowledges that racial inequities in education and training of health professionals, research programming, and clinical care delivery are barriers to optimal learning, discovery and the health and wellness of our entire community. Further, UI Health recognizes that the detrimental impact of racial inequities is compounded when it intersects with other factors including, but not limited to: age, class, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, nationality, immigration status, marital status, political ideology, religion/spirituality, sex, and sexual orientation.
