Odehmenan Health Equity Speaker Series

This series focuses on highlighting health equity-centered research, education, policy and practice from UIC faculty, staff, post-docs and students. Our goal is to yield time and space for UIC community members who are in their early-to-mid career to showcase their work to our UIC community and guests.

This brown bagger series takes place in the Odeh Center during the noon hour every month of spring and fall semesters. All sessions are accessible live via Zoom and are recorded and housed here on our website.

Over the course of each academic year, we intend to bring speakers from all seven of the health sciences colleges and schools. Please check out our Program Archive page for video recordings of the programming.

Signature Community Events

These events bring together neighborhood organizations and community-based leaders that are non-UIC affiliates with the Odeh Team and other UIC colleges, schools, and centers. Our goal is to lessen the wide gap that too often exists between academia and community by organizing, developing and delivering content related to a big health equity topic together from beginning to end to our UIC and non-UIC communities.

These are half- to full-day hybrid events events that take place in the Odeh Center once a semester. All events are accessible live via Zoom and are recorded and made accessible here on our website.

Programming for Flourishing in Education & Healthcare

This programming is structured to be a place of continuing education – especially for our UIC and UI Health faculty, staff and students. Our goal is to give a platform to various health equity advocates within a particular field, both within and outside of UIC, to delve deeper on topics related to the health and flourishing of patients, clients and community members. The intended audience is dictated by the program and speaker.

These programs are offered multiple times throughout the semester in the Odeh Center and come in different formats: lectures, Q&A, workshops, panels and more. Depending on the format and speaker, when possible, we offer continuing education credits, stream these live on Zoom and provide recordings.
